What it is
Pal-GHK, known in cosmetics as palmitoyl tripeptide-1, is the GHK tripeptide (glycyl-L-histidyl-L-lysine) attached to palmitic acid, a fatty acid. The fatty “palmitoyl” tail is intended to make the peptide more lipid-soluble so it can penetrate the skin more effectively. It is used as a topical cosmetic ingredient.1
It shares its core peptide with GHK-Cu, but instead of being bound to copper it is attached to a fatty acid. Like SNAP-8, it is a cosmetic ingredient rather than an injectable drug.
How it works
Pal-GHK is described as a “signal peptide” thought to interact with skin cells to encourage the production of structural proteins such as collagen, and to support skin remodeling. The palmitoyl modification is designed to improve delivery of the peptide into the skin.1,2 The practical question for any topical peptide is how much actually reaches its target.

Independent, peer-reviewed human trials of Pal-GHK specifically are limited, and much of the supporting evidence for finished products comes from manufacturer studies. Results vary by formulation and concentration, and the cosmetic data should be read with that caveat.1
